Last Friday, MAPP collaborated with Learners in hosting UXR LA - special thanks to Dr. Jason Buhle, PhD for taking lead! Our students were able to engage and connect with UX professionals to gain insight on the latest trends and advancements in UX design! 🌐🤝We look forward to the next academic year to explore what else the world of UX has to offer! ✨

The final days of Career Matters @ MAPP were nothing short of transformative for our students! Ellen L. Leggett, Ed.D., the former MAPP director who took the program to new heights under her leadership, led a resume workshop that surpassed all expectations. In collaboration with Urmila Patil, PhD., she provided some seriously targeted insights tailor-made for the MAPP students!🚀 These insights were the little gems of wisdom that shone a light on exactly how MAPPers can showcase their expertise from the program in the most unique and captivating ways! 🌱 Our week concluded on a high with David Ragni, Manager, UX Research at Workday, who imparted some invaluable insights into the ever-evolving landscape of the UX industry. David left us all with a deeper understanding of what it takes to thrive as UX professionals and the richness of diverse perspectives in the UX field. The cherry on the cake? His insights as a hiring manager on what distinguishes a great candidate from a good one. Day 2 of Career Matters @ MAPP series was an absolute blast! What an enriching and energizing panel with industry stalwarts like Martin Eichholz from Basis, Kevin Frank from Golden Hippo, Stephany Morris-Nelson, PHR, SHRM-CP and Brodie Kaster, M.S. from Ernst and Young! They didn't just share insights, they ignited a fire within us! Their eloquence and honesty were exceptional as they delved into treasured skills in diverse fields of business insights, research, organizational development, human resources, and consultancy. They brought a wealth of experience to their takes on building robust professional relationships, mastering the art of career pivoting, decoding senior leadership perspectives, embracing continuous learning, and boldly addressing the elephant in the room: AI and its wild ride into the future.But here's the kicker – their candor, humility, and infectious sense of humor turned this discussion into an absolute rollercoaster of inspiration! 🙌Last week marked a significant milestone for the MAPP program as we hosted our inaugural career event - Career Matters @ MAPP ! Day 1: 🚀 It was an absolute privilege to welcome esteemed alumni from esteemed companies such as Trisha Tamashiro Gray from Disney , David Giardino from NBC Universal, Greta Leberfinger from Ernst and Young, and Nora Delay from Four Spire, all occupying pivotal leadership roles within their organizations. Their collective wisdom illuminated our discussions, diving deep into crucial topics such as combating imposter syndrome, navigating the challenge of limited experience in job applications, and mastering the art of relationship-building. From invaluable insights on soft skills to strategic networking approaches, the event was a treasure trove of knowledge for our ambitious cohort. We explored ways to position ourselves strategically in the job market, leveraging our unique skill sets to carve out our professional paths. 🌐💼 Reflecting on the event, we are filled with mature excitement as we envision the transformative impact it will have on our careers.
